Also called \u003cem\u003euruli\u003c\/em\u003e or \u003cem\u003echarakku\u003c\/em\u003e, these cauldrons were used in both Tamil \u0026amp; Malayali homes and could hold vast amounts of food. They were placed directly on the fire and wooden poles were inserted through the loop handles at each side to carry them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eTraditionally they were always made from bronze, or bell metal using the lost wax process (cire perdue) and were made in Kerela.
