The metal and lacquer work were completed New Year of 1832, Year of the Dragon and the craftsmen were paid on 23rd of the same month in the woodworkers workshop. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e The construction of the chest is technically very sophisticated, reinforced by iron brackets which bridge the internal and external surfaces.  Unusually for Japanese tansu, the drawers and back of this dansu are luxuriously lacquered with urushi lacquer. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnother unusual feature are the rollers on the base, made from persimmon wood (from the ebony family).
