They were designed as freestanding units and were more often used in shops and brothels. The design originated in Northern Honshu island.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis piece like most Japanese furniture has excellent carpentry is constructed from hinoki (cedar) and cryptomeria woods.
