This style of painted red leather chest was made in Canton for the French export market. This is further illustrated by the French list found inside the lid. Red was a far less commonly used colour. Black or dark green leather trunks were considerably more common. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere has been damage to the back panel which has been sympathetically repaired.
