It is from Northern China and would have been owned by relatively wealthy citizens who lived in the border areas of Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia \u0026amp; Shanxi. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThese cabinets were used for storage of clothes and bedding or grain although they were also used as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship. Originally, this piece would have been top opening via two hatches.
