Stone Lamp Niche From Gujarat - 19th Century

This antique carved stone lamp niche (locally known as an alla) is from Gujarat. Hand carved from local stone they were normally used beside doorways with oil lamps or candles. But even without candles they look very decorative on a wall or to light a garden pathway at night. They can also be built into a wall.
