Harpa boxes were used by Indian shopkeepers as money boxes. This is evident here from the money slot in the box cover.
This piece is a beautiful example with a rich patina, especially on the Ganesh carving in the center. Ganesh is the Hindu god of wisdom and clears obstacles of day to day life. The patina on this box is excellent and shows very good age.
