Painted Glazed Book Cabinet - Early 20th Century

This attractive Indian glazed teak cabinet dates to around 1920 and retains a wonderfully distressed green painted finish. Years of use have worn through areas of the paint to reveal earlier colours and the natural teak beneath, creating a richly layered surface and characterful patina.

The cabinet is fitted with three fixed internal shelves, providing generous storage and display space for books, ceramics, glassware, linens or decorative objects. The shelves are accessed through four sliding glazed panels, with two to the upper section and two below. Simple brass handles complement the original painted finish.

Constructed from solid teak, the cabinet has pleasingly simple proportions, with a moulded cornice and substantial plinth base. Its relatively shallow depth of just 37 cm makes it particularly practical where useful storage is required without a cabinet projecting too far into the room.
