Takhat Table With Lacquer Legs

This fabulous coffee table is a takhat table, an Indian daybed. Takhats were originally used as daybeds by the wealthy merchant classes in Rajasthan, particularly in the Shekhawati area. This takhat was probably from Hyderabad and has lacquer legs from Rajasthan.

Its beautifully turned and lacquered legs support a beautifully patinaed tabletop with carvings around each side. It would make an impressive centerpiece for a living room, conservatory, or summer house.
