Woodblock print by artist Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1864) depicting a young girl handing over a black lacquer box and a message from Prince Genji his mistress, a bijin (a beautiful person) from 'Chapter 48: Sawarabi' from the series 'The Color Print Contest of a Modern Genji' (Ima Genji Nishiki-e Awase - Sawarabi) first published in 1853.

Utagawa Kunisada was a well renowned successful woodblock designer of the Ukiyo-e period of printing. He also went by the name Utagawa Toyokuni III.


Dating from the Edo Period these old prints have been reframed by our skilled team in a simple matte black wood frame.
