Carved Blanket Chest Made From Reclaimed Teak

This carved Indian blanket chest is made from sustainable mango wood and reclaimed teak, combining traditional Indian craftsmanship with environmentally conscious materials. This is not an antique; the reclaimed teak has been salvaged from old buildings in Rajasthan and Gujarat, giving the piece much of the character and texture of older Indian furniture.

The front is particularly decorative, with deeply carved floral rosettes and scrolling foliate motifs extending across the entire panel. A softly washed finish highlights the depth of the carving and natural grain of the timber, while the chest stands on four shaped block feet.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a large, practical storage compartment, with a chain fitted to support the lid when open. At 122 cm wide, the chest is an excellent size for use as a coffee table with hidden storage, or as a blanket and linen box at the end of a double or king-size bed.

Using reclaimed teak reduces the need for newly harvested timber, while mango wood is a sustainable hardwood valued for its strength and durability. The combination makes this an environmentally friendly and practical piece of furniture designed for everyday use.
